West High School is the home to 18 National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists! We have more than any other public school in the State. West High School also made AYP for the third year in a row! What is AYP you ask - well No Child Left Behind reports show whether Utah students made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). AYP is a formula agreed upon by the State and the Federal Government that determines if students made significant progress during the school year. There are approximately 40 different categories on the AYP reports, and a “No” in one single category results in a “No” designation for the entire school.
