Uintah Elementary
Uintah Elementary School has served families in the historic Harvard/Yale
neighborhood for almost 100 years. Workers cleared land for Uintah Elementary
back in 1915. In 1993, the original structure was demolished to make
way for a new building which continues to stand as an anchor in the community.

Uintah Highlights
- Our PTA and parent involvement is second to none. Volunteers bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience to help sharpen and expand young minds. Volunteers are used in a variety of ways ranging from working with individual students to whole class music and art lessons. Our high level of parent involvement reflects the high value placed on education.
- Our Hands-On Science program is offered to the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades. The program includes a wide variety of physical science experiments such as chemistry and electricity. Life Science experiments in 5th and 6th grade also include dissection. This year we are expanding Hands-On Science to include our K-2 classrooms on a smaller scale.
- Uintah is striving to become a Gold Medal School. Last year we achieved bronze and silver. Thanks to parent donations, our students in grades 1-6 receive 60 minutes of PE instruction per week by a district trained instructor. Kindergarten receives 30 minutes per week.
- We are involved with the Utah Behavior Initiative (UBI). We have revised our school rules and put positive behavior supports in place, such as U Club and the Ultimate Unicorn drawing.
- Two of our sixth grade classrooms are involved with the Enriched Technology Classrooms project. These teachers receive training each month to help them integrate technology. There is a computer for every two students.
- We continue to work with Community Education to offer both Kindergarten Enrichment and Extended Day programs.
